These days Greg Denham is Executive Officer at Yarra Drug and Health Forum, the organisation behind a controversial push to open a drug injecting room in Richmond.
For 21 years, though, Greg was a police officer.
He says that heroin addiction is a problem that is best treated from a health perspective, rather than a law and order one.
Greg Denham spoke to Jon Faine on 774 ABC Melbourne Mornings.
