Bernadette Burchell

Bernadette Burchell BSW MSW (Human Services Management)

Bernadette has been a Social Worker and Manager of social services for more than 30 years, working primarily in community based not for profit organisations in child welfare, community health and the criminal justice system.

She has a particular passion for partnerships and collaborations to improve service delivery for vulnerable communities, with experience in supporting the Eastern Region Police and Community Drug Alliance, the North Central Metro Primary Care Partnership in Executive Officer support roles and in Chairing the North East Metro Child First/Family Services Alliance as then CEO of the Children’s Protection Society .

Bernadette has come to the position of Executive Officer of Yarra Drug and Health Forum from the position of State Manager Court Network, a volunteer provided service to support community members on their day in court.

“The Yarra Drug and Health Forum has such a great record for supporting the community to solve issues arising from alcohol and drug use with a clear focus on human rights, health and harm minimisation. The health workers, lawyers, police and academics who come together to work with the community to solve problems are sincere and knowledgeable. I am delighted to continue the great support provided through the Executive Officer role to this tradition.”
